VW Polo Start/Stop Battery Guide (EFB/AGM)
A 2022 VW Polo TSI is not the same as a 2012 Polo Vivo. If your modern Polo has a Start/Stop system (the engine cuts off at traffic lights), it has completely different electrical needs.
This is the most common mistake we see: a driver replaces their R3,000 specialist battery with a R1,500 standard battery. This will not work.
Why a Standard 619 Will Fail
Your Polo's Start/Stop system will restart your engine over 500,000 times in its life. A standard 619 battery is designed for 50,000 starts. It will be destroyed in months.
You MUST use the battery technology your car was built with, which is an EFB (Enhanced Flooded Battery).
The car's smart charging system (BMS) is also calibrated for an EFB. If it detects a standard battery, it will not charge it correctly, leading to system errors and premature failure.
