Suzuki Vitara & Fronx Battery Guide
The Suzuki Vitara and the new Fronx are modern, high-tech crossover-SUVs. Replacing their battery isn't as simple as it used to be. The correct battery depends on one key question: Does it have Start/Stop?
Group 1: Standard Models (No Start/Stop)
If you have an older Vitara (pre-Start/Stop), your car uses a standard, high-quality battery, typically a 619 or 646. A Willard 646 is a great, reliable choice that provides ample power for the vehicle's electronics.
Group 2: Modern Models (With Start/Stop)
The new Suzuki Fronx, Vitara, and other models with "S-Stop" technology require an EFB (Enhanced Flooded Battery).
This special battery is designed to handle the 10x increase in engine starts. If you fit a standard battery, it will fail very quickly, and your car's smart charging system will not work correctly, potentially voiding your warranty.
Some top-spec models may even require an AGM battery.

How fast can Alberton Battery Mart replace my battery?
Most callouts in Alberton, New Redruth, and Meyersdal wrap in 60 minutes. We run Midtronics diagnostics first, then fit your Willard or Exide battery on-site so you avoid towing.
Do you handle Start/Stop and coding?
Yes. We stock AGM/EFB batteries and register them to the vehicle’s BMS before handover, preventing charging faults on BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Ford Ranger, and other Start/Stop platforms.
Can you test my current battery before I buy?
We offer free battery, alternator, and starter testing in-store or as part of the mobile callout. You only pay once we’ve proven the battery is the failure point.
