Ford Ranger Battery: Why You Need an EFB/AGM
Stop! Before you put a standard 652 battery in your modern Ford Ranger, you need to read this. That "cheaper" battery will fail, and it will happen fast.
Your new Ranger (T6, T7, or T8) is not a simple bakkie. It's a high-tech vehicle with a Start/Stop system and a BMS (Battery Management System). It requires a specialist battery.
Why a Standard Battery Will Fail
A standard "wet" battery is not built for the demands of your Ranger:
- Start/Stop Cycles: A standard battery will be destroyed by the 10x more engine starts your bakkie demands.
- Smart Charging: The BMS is programmed to charge a specific type of battery. It will overcharge and "cook" a standard battery, causing it to fail in months.
This failure is "incorrect application" and will not be covered by warranty.
You MUST Use an EFB or AGM Battery
Your vehicle requires, at a minimum, an EFB (Enhanced Flooded Battery). Top-spec models like the Wildtrak, or bakkies with many accessories, require a premium AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) battery.
As Alberton's bakkie specialists, we stock the correct, warrantied EFB and AGM batteries for your Ranger and have the tools to ensure it's fitted and registered correctly.
