Ford EcoSport Battery Guide (Start/Stop)
Replacing a battery in a Ford EcoSport can be tricky. Why? Because some older models use a standard battery, while many newer models are equipped with Start/Stop technology.
Fitting the wrong one is a very costly mistake.
How to Check Your Model
It's simple. Look at your dashboard. Do you have a button to turn the Start/Stop system off (usually an "A" with a circle around it)? Does your engine cut out when you stop at a traffic light?
If you answered yes, you MUST use an EFB (Enhanced Flooded Battery).
Why an EFB is Essential
Your Start/Stop system will restart your engine over 500,000 times in its life. A standard battery is only built for 50,000. It will be destroyed.
Your EcoSport's smart charging system is also calibrated for an EFB. If you fit a standard battery, the car will not charge it correctly, leading to system warnings and failure in just a few months. This will void your new battery's warranty.
